Not sure if You ride with any other Sportster guys in Your area, but if they had a same model Voltage regulator to swap out just to check it only takes a couple minutes. Hell you could come up here and try My stock spare one if You get up this way . Or just make this guy a offer and keep a spare one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VOLTA...Q5fAccessories
.I understand it's under warranty but $50 bucks ain't worth the hassle to Me....WVleo

went to the other dealer today for their 25th anniversary celebration
i went in to get a regulator price and the guy asked for the year when i said
09 he asked did i have more than 24k already? when i said no he asked why i was buying one and then i explained what had happened at the other dealer.

i then got sent to service to retell what went on and their service manager said BS!
they shouldn't tell you to run it till it dies, could cause more problems in the long run,
can you leave it today? i was stunned..TODAY?!!.. a helpful dealership????.

unfortunately i had no way to get home otherwise i would have just left it there so
he scheduled it for first thing Tuesday morning and is putting his best man on it
to get to the bottom of it, he also had me explain everything it was doing and under what conditions and wrote it on the service request so the tech can duplicate it.

it did it off and on all day riding today and seemed to have gotten worse, lights came on and stayed on for a good 5 miles through a town 40mph or less and didn't go out
until i got on the highway and cranked it up to 75.
did it again when i got home and no amount of RPMs would put it out, as soon as i turned the bike off and then restarted it they were out again and didn't come back on.
no rhyme or reason to it but i am a little more confident that it will finally get fixed
properly at this other dealer.

Good to hear You found a Dealer who wants to do right for You and Your ride. Especially since the bike is having the issue on and off . Easier for the dealership to swap out parts trying to locate or test for a problem. Tuesday can't come fast enough for You huh . ....WVleo

Hey guys - I just joined this forum so I could pass on my experience to you. (08 1200 C )Last year I had an intermittent starting problem - a tow later it turned out to be the relay (covered under warranty) - This past Sunday the bike would`nt start - I did not get the fuel noise when the on switch was turned on - a tow later it was the relay - the other one (there are 2 ).

It is well known that the Sportster has a water problem where water gets into the fuse box area - last year they cleaned everything and did the dilectric grease thing to all the fuses - but this year the same thing - if fact this time they asked me if I pressure wash my bike (I don`t) They know this is an issue and there is nothing that can be done. I`m picking up my bike later this week and will buy 2 spare relays. I`m tired of having the bike towed at $125.00 - luckily I`m a HOG so the first hunt was covered.
