Default Scrapped clutch cable

I recently scrapped my clutch cable and part of the metal is showing. I pulled it up so it doesn't happen again but I'm pretty sure I need to replace it soon. Is this something that is fairly easy to do or am I just going to make a big mess when I open the cover up to attach the new cable? Just wondering if I'm better off taking it do a dealer and let them deal with the fluid mess.

Fluid mess?

Drain the lube first, change the cable, add a quart of new lube, or if you are really cheap, re use the stuff.

How does one scrape the cable?

I put on drag bars and the cable was blocking my headlight. So I moved the cable down a little bit so it wouldn't block it as bad but moved it to low and it then dragged going around a corner.

Anytime I deal with fluid I seem to make a mess. No patience I guess when it comes to it. Even a simple oil change on my truck I make a mess everytime.

I'm also thinking of getting a black derby cover as well. Anybody find some cool ones, all the ones that I like are chrome and would like a black one.

I would do something about the cable if its that loose, it could catch on something.
Plus, it likely looks goofy.

I make a mess also, so I use big pieces of old cardboard when I work.
