My 11 yo son and I were playing hooky from our daily routine and ended up at hooters for lunch. Afterwards we went looking at man toys and found our way to the local HD dealer saw the 48 and made an impulse buy. Didn't even have a mc license at the time so I couldn't even test ride it but I knew I wanted it. Wrote em a check tossed it in the back of the truck and took it home.
The paint was done locally here in the dfw area texas and its called retro blue. I call it fishing lure blue because it changes colors and sparkles just like a lure. It also had the v/h blackout pipes from the dealer. Pics of the before and after are included. I have added the LaPera Comanche seat, hd quick detach sissy bar (for those occasions when I got a cute chubby chick I don't want to fall off and yes I take it off for the not so cute I do want to fall off) 12" Burly bars and accompanying cables, licks solo bag, kuryakan iso grips. Burly cables are too damn long so any ideas on camouflage there would help. Also props to all who post and help us new guys. Gleaned many tips and tricks from here while doing the work. I did the bars myself because hd shop wanted like 7 or 8 bills to do it with internal wiring ...i could afford it but my conscience couldn't. I am somewhat of a mechanic and not stupid so I can figger things out. Took me 2 days to do it but complete success the first try. It took 2 days because I did have other obligations to deal with also.
I noticed you have passenger pegs. With the Solo bag, can the passenger still reach the peg on that side?

Here's my 48 that my lady rides, she loves it and I must admit I like to take it out for a thrash now and again as it's more flickerable than my Wide Glide

It can be used if there isn't a ton of crap to the top of the bag..who ever is back there I just tell them to smash in the bag with their foot and it compresses enough to get a foot on it..I really never carry much more than spare shades and cap, rag or maybe some cold weather stuff that I might need after the sun sets.

Wildthang, I like your heavy breather air cleaner. What I like about it is the mix of both black and chrome. What brand is it? I've looked around but can only find black or chrome. Thanks.

I will post pics of mine tomorrow- I just lifted the tank, relocated the coil and ignition, added a spring seat, and a chopped fender light. It also has a stage I done. I would post now but I can't from my iPad or iPhone
