Hello, my last post was in August after a new headlight. I've changed some things around since then, most notably my handlebars, switches and controls.
What paint did you use that can handle the heat? Did you do any prep on the chrome to get the paint to stick?
After a ton of research I discovered something. A lot of people were having great success painting heat shields, pipes & headers on motorcycles & race cars using John Deere Muffler paint. Well, JD wants $20 a can. After MORE research I discovered Valspar makes the paint for JD. THEN I found Valspar tractor & Implement paint @ Tractor Supply. Picked up a can of High Temp(1,200 degrees) for $6.79!!! So to sum it up it's JD muffler paint. Prepped it w/Scotchbrite pads, washed w/Dawn soap, let dry & sprayed 4 coats. Let dry in sun for 1 hour then baked in oven @ 250 degrees for 1 hour.
