Re: Cris1948: I did 99% of the mods myself so I saved a bunch of cash.
One method I highly recommend is selling off the stock parts on eBay first, then using that money to buy the parts you want. That helped me almost break even ; )))
Test fitting the new intake(s). Going to powdercoat them both black. On the smooth one I may have it painted to match the tank and the finned one I might sand down the powdercoating down inside the fins.

Very cool! I'm not a fan of the finned one, but that's just me. Are you making a bracket to fit that or how does it even go on a non-carbed filter?
I bought the complete intake kit from S&S and it came with the smoother cover and bolts right up. The finned cover matches up at 2 of the 3 mounting holes so it'll be fine.

I am not mechanically inclined, and I travel a lot for business so I have limited time for projects. I priced out all my mods at the dealership (I know that makes me somewhat of a chump.) It came to 3k. I'm not sure if they will do the rear fender chop like you did on your 48. I can ask.
Do you find the apes hard to manage in comparison to the stock bars?
