Many thanks CP! I'd be interested to know the metallurgical reason behind the embrittling idea. Although I have been in the financial world for 27 years, I do have an engineering back ground and that sounds a tad spurious.

This may sound odd to some, but I am interested in a pair of black short shots with mufflers. Does such a thing exist? The mufflers will a) maintain my marriage and b) I don't like loud noise due to damaginging my eardrums a few years back.
TIA!

Great looking bike and Love those bars! What are they and did they require extended cables and lines?

Thanks. The bars are Flanders flat track, 650-28076. Got them though Side Road Cycles. Stock cables are what I used. I did upgrade to a steel brake line, 36''.

Don't know, as the bike had 14" mini apes when I got it, w/cables to match. I got the stock cables with the bike, so I used them. Never tried the stock brake line, but I would think it would work fine.

There are some on eBay, but they are all chrome. I have emailed Flanders for an image - that is the part number, right? There was me saying I didn't want to change the stock look of the bike... Oh well, I'm in the club now, eh? :-)

How did you do the tank? Hand painted, or a transfer under lacquer?

Here's the page for those bars. http://www.sideroadcycles.com/Americ...wept_Back.html

On the tank...I had a painter/airbrush friend do it. I took a design to him and he did the rest. The Harley logo and card graphics were air brushed on then clear coated.

Changing the stock look of your bike is a personal choice, or is for me. I've always done it, regardless of brand. Here's my Triumph, many changes on this one.

Where did you get the design template?

What year is the Trumpet then?
