Default Help! New 74' sportster.

Hello HD forums i just picked up a 74 sportster that was a 1000 that was bored out to a 1200 from my father in-law that has been garaged for 25 years i know very little about bikes but i have always wanted one so heres my chance. my question is what do i need to do to get this bike running again, not just for a quick start but to make sure it is sound mechanically, correct me if i am wrong but all i think that i need to do is clean the carb change the battery, clean the gas tank(what is the best way to do this?) and thats all i know any feedback would be extremely helpfull..thanks in advance

I just bought an old Sportster out of a barn that hasn't ran in a few years. The carb needs rebuilt, oil changed bla bla...but I took the gas tank to a radiator shop to have it flushed. When I get it back I'll reseal it.
