2009 nightster need the oil filter number. Not the HD one. I'm I the mountains and don't have a stealershipnear near me. Thanks all. I searched the site but didn't find anything.

If it were me, I would order a couple on the internet. Or have your shop order one for ya, can't imagine you have the only sporty in your area that someone would not have some kind of filter for you. I guess you would still need a number though.

I would say you are safe using any filter that fits, like a mobil 1 filter.

A filter is a filter, although there are crappy ones.

They all do the same thing, most car filters are for bigger motors with even more oil flow. The center thread part needs to match up, and the gasket size needs to be the same, but the filter looks just like the one on my rav 4, mobil 1 103.

Filters have anti drain back valves, which actualy work on a quality filter, and bypass valves (if the filter gets plugged up), but all that should be about the same on all filters.

Also, you dont NEED to change the filter, its not going to be plugged up or even very dirty in 5000 miles, changing the oil is the important thing as it can break down from the heat.
