Moved to the Dark side

i came over myself this year, have always ridden Japanese bikes but when i found that the whole Harley line had EFI it was time to buy a Harley.
searched online and decided i wanted a nightster found one march 30 and bought it.
from personal experience i would say that if you want a Dyna you probably should buy one or you may end up with buyers remorse

Definately get what you want.
I was torn between the Street Bob and the Iron. I really liked the low, flat look of the Iron, but I wasn't sure if I would like the smaller bike...I bought the Iron.
All my buddies ride Dynas, Fat Boys, Road Kings and Ultra Classic.
They are more comfortable going on long rides and don't have to fill up as much as I do....but I really do love my Iron, it just looks so different than the others.
Almost all of them told me they liked the looks of the Iron but it was too small for them.
I'll get a bigger bike after this one is paid off and my son will get the Iron...I will admit I did have buyers remorse at first, until I started getting comments on my cool bike from others.
Until then, I don't mind being different than everybody else.

I bought an 883 low because it is what I wanted. The salesman wanted me to buy a standard Sportster because it was cheaper.I am 5'10" and 190 and it suits me fine.Buy what you want and **** the social stereotype ****.I don't go for the hanging out showing off your bike ****.I ride as does my wife. When I buy another bike this one goes to my daughter.

With the right touchs your 1200 will make most of your big bike buds wonder why they spent so much. And welcome to the darkside cookies are waiting.

Honestly if it's a dyna you really want, then either save up for it or buy a used one. If you just want a dyna 'cause you think you'll be too big for a sportster, then you need to do a little more research. I'm 6' 1" 175lbs and I ride an 883. My other bikes are below and to be honest the Iron is definitely more comfortable and as of late, more fun to ride on the streets than any of them. They pretty much only get used on track days now. If you're comfortable on your R6, you definitely won't be uncomfortable on a sportster.
If there's any kind of advice I could give you on buying your next bike... Do some research on the ones that interest you and go check them out at a dealer to see which one YOU like best. Given your size, no harley will be too small for you. If you're dead set on getting a new dyna, then save up for it. If not, go take a sportster for a test ride and see how it feels. You may find you like it better then the dyna. Above all, get what YOU like. Hope that helps.

Hey dude,
I used to ride a GSXR-750, and now own a nightster. I went with this bike, because it was the 'sportiest' bike I could find, that wasnt going to allow me to do wheelies and such! I'm 5'9, 190lbs and the bike is perfect for size. I must admit, every time I see the bike on its own, or next to another bike it does look small. But when I am actually on the bike its not as small as it looks.
But speaking of cost... I got my nightster for 8500 bucks... around the same price sport bikes go for used around here. Bigger harley's are way out of my price range, and all of my friends who OWN bigger/more expensive bikes always compliment me on my bike. Sporties are super easy to personalize and if you still miss your crotch rocket you can put clip-ons and mid controls like I'm doing!
Good luck
