Default How do you adjust the low fuel warning light ?

The low fuel warning light on my 883 Iron is coming on at around 50 miles, it should not light until around 90 miles.

Some times when I stop and start up again it will go out for a couple on minutes and come on again.

can anyone tell me how to adjust this, I assume it is some sort of float mechanism on the EFI module inside the fuel tank.

We also have a 1200 nightster and the low fuel warning light works just fine on it.

Under warranty still? Sounds like whatever it uses for a sending unit is malfunctioning. I usually hit around 80-90 before mine comes on, and that leaves me with right around a gallon left.

The float arm needs to be bent.

There dosen't appear to be a float arm to bend, it looks like the float is on a plastic shaft, it moves up and down on. Do I lower this assembly a bit, to make the light come on when the fuel level is lower in the tank?

QFT

Don't rely on the light. Watch your mileage.

OP, the fuel light should come on when there is about one gallon of fuel left in the tank.

I usually get between 30 to 40 mpg mostly town w/ some highway and I do not race around.

So ........

Ignoring mileage, how much fuel do you put in the tank to refill once the light comes on?

Anyway to make the float bigger/taller so It Sits higher on the gas,,The Light would come on later if it can be done.
Is It possible to attach a second smaller float below the first ??

Follow me ?

I think you can just adjust the sensor to change the reading.
(how it mounts on the fuel pump)

I don't trust the light and rely on the trip meter.
Last fill and the light has not come on yet, and I am at 140 miles.

I almost always get gas between 100 and 120 miles but the range goes way up with steady riding...
