My hubby just hardtailed his 883 and now the speedo, brake and tail lights keep shorting out. We just did a 570 mile trip from San Diego to Sacramento with pretty much none of that working for most of it.
Any tips or tricks would help as Oregon is our next stop before heading back to San Diego.

 

similar problem on the road with mine... pulled off at a dealer that i was passing- they told me that they do "on the road" bikes priority and that they would fix it in half an hour. incredible service. mine was a fuse blown by a short in my horn (does your horn work?). i had changed the horn and the wiring was loose enough that it touched the cover and shorted. blew the fuse.
they also found a coupla small fixes that they didnt charge for.

 

My wires running from rear lights... across frame and under seat got flattened/pinched by the seat so i had some weird stuff happening on the
display and indicators flashing,SORTED.I now have some of that spiral cable protection over the wires.H.

 

Thank you! We left the bike in Sac and took just the car to Oregon. Back now and checking both suggestions.
