Default clutch question

I just installed mini apes on my 05 sporty. I adjusted the clutch by the book. The bike rolls easy in neutral. If I put it in gear and roll it the bike takes a lot more force to get it to move. Is this normal or is the clutch still need adjustment? It drove fine before to ape hanger install and I dont remember it being hard to roll in gear with the clutch pulled before I installed the apes.

If you have adjusted the clutch acording to the spects, she's fine. It should take some force to move it in gear without the motor running. My RoadKing is the same way, has been from new.

Did you adjust the clutch, or just the clutch cable? Those are 2 totally different processes.

I adjusted both. The clutch first then the cable. I have between 1/16th and 1/8th of free travel in the lever. The clutch is adjusted to a slight drag then backed off 1/4 turn. When I drive the bike it drives fine. It doesnt fell like the clutch is slipping and while at a stop light it doesnt fell like the bike is trying to move while the clutch is pulled in. Its just harder to push while in gear with the clutch pulled. I have never noticed this because I never push the bike while in gear.

The only bikes that are easy to move with the clutch in and bike in gear are sportbikes for some reason. I own 2 Harleys and both are tough to push in gear with the clutch pulled in. Don't know why, maybe Harley gears are heavier?

No worries. Haven't seen anyone do it yet. My friends with Harleys have to get it in neutral too.
