Default A cheep method of catching fork oil

I got myself a set of progressive fork springs for the bike. Read and read and read some more until I had it all planned out in my head. 90min later I am done and tomorrow in the daylight I will give it a test ride.

Now as the title suggests, here is my idea for catching the old oil out of the forks. A 20oz soda bottle. As seen in the picts I cut the neck off and made a opening down the side of the bottle just big enough to clear the pinch nut. I loosened the old screws and taped the bottle on to the forks. Leaving most of the neck prevented any forceful squirts from going all over.

Another idea for adding oil. I overfilled the tube and used a marinade injector to suck out the excess oil. Mine was close to the inside diameter so the needle was close to center and I measured and marked the tube. Easy!!

That seemed to work well . Photos do alot better job for Me in visualizing the technique You used to remove fork oil. That way My water bottle won't sit in a landfill for 2,000,000,000,000 years after only one use. Next time I'll give this a shot when I change fork oil..........WVleo

I remove the top caps, then the drain screw, and let the oil run out into a pan. No pumping and mess.
The oil drains out in 2 minutes.
I measure the amount that comes out and refill with the same amount, about 235cc's I think it was.

The ride improves a LOT with 15 weight fork oil with the stock springs, stock oil is 5 weight, the screaming eagle oil is 10 weight I think.

With the progressive springs, I went to 10 weight oil, and 5 weight would likely be fine.

I pumped mine and flushed it with a little of the new belray 10w.
Everyone is always going WOW over the change and I can now agree with that!
Next is a pair of air shocks.

In this pict, the bump is where the drain screw is. The bump is facing the bottle just below the top lip of the bottle.
