Standard baffles have a hole right through - about 1 1/4" dia, quiet baffles have an end cap. Look up the back of the pipe and see.

I just put the quiet baffles in my short shots, same exact thing i think. the quiet ones have a solid end cap on the end inside the pipe whereas the regular ones are straight through, just stick something thin in there and if it hits a solid end about 10" in they're quiet.

How do you like the sound with the quiet baffles in? Notice any difference? Does it sound better at lower RPM's?

I had sideshots with quiet baffles for about a day. The only difference in sound that I noticed was when I accelerated it sounded like I had a corn cob stuck up the end of the pipe. At idle they sounded the exact same as with the standard baffle. The V&H website says something about the quiet baffle only lowers the sideshots and shortshots by 3-4 dB. The are both around 95dB with the standard baffle. So they keep the pipes still way over the EPA legal 80 dB point. I also noticed a severe decrease in performance after recalibrating my fuelpak to the settings with the quiet baffles.

I was told no recalibrating necessary. It seemed odd to me considered the obviously decrease in air flow with the solid end caps. I might get a tad more popping, but everything else is pretty close. Definitely changed the sound, and made them noticeably quieter. I like them more just because they are quieter, but my wife liked it the old way.

The biggest pain in the *** with the whole thing is that ridiculously long bolt going through the pipe in a really tough place to get it out, it took forever on the lower pipe. ended up cutting the bolt to probably around 1/2 an inch. no reason for it to cros the whole diameter of the pipe.

so do you think i can just drill out the end of the quiet ones to make them in to the regular baffle? can you get a picture of your regular baffle?

I don't have any pics, and I guess you could, but they are probably not expensive just to buy them. I would just cut the end off instead of drilling, but I would get a second opinion. I'm not really the guy you want to take any D-I-Y advice from.
