Default New windshield, 1st 10 minutes impression

so I swapped a brawler solo I had sitting around for a compact quick release windshield for my '08 Nightster. Put in on in under 20 seconds, winced at how it looked on the bike, and decided to try it out on this particularly windy SF afternoon. My set up is 10" mini apes, so it wasn't ideal and even with my clutch cable long enough for probably 20" bars there was no problem (I actually think all the slack made it easier to bend it out of the way without any problems). I use a biltwell helmet and I have to say in the ten minutes I had it out the difference was pretty noticeable. Only got it up to about 40 mph (SF commute time), but the only noticeable wind resistance was from about eyes up instead of my entire torso. I'm guessing the standard size would have been better for taller bars, but it was basically free with the swap. I'm looking forward to trying it under better conditions. If you see me, don't rag on me for putting glass on an N, sometimes you gotta suck it up and go practical.

I won't be ragging on you. My idea of motorcycles is getting out and riding as much as possible. If putting that windshield on will make you want to go out and ride more then put it on and go ride! And its detachable so it doesn't have to be on all the time, but just for when you need it.

I will probably be investing in some sort of windshield soon. I have a lot of long distance rides planned for this summer, and I want to be able to enjoy them and not be praying that we will be stopping soon because of the pain.

That's why I wanted it. I've got the summer off and would like to do some longer rides. I picked mine up used on craigslist for a trade. I must have emailed 30+ people selling sporty's with windshields to see if they'd sell the windshield separate and no takers. It just doesn't make sense how people don't want to make money off their extras. If you have $2k in extras you'll be lucky to sell the bike for $400 more, but could probably make $1k selling them separately.... Why don't they see this? sorry for the rant, they just grind my gears (no pun intended).
