I find that resting your index finger on the front brake and clutch lever on long rides keeps you from gripping the bars too tight and keeps the blood flow moving.

I wish that worked for me,I ride like that out of habit from mountain biking(finger on the front brake) and I find it makes the numbness even worse,I don't grip the bars tightly and I've changed bars and bar positions. My only other thought is all of my previous riding was done with clip-ons and clubman's.The angle of MY wrist bend is A lot straighter with my current dragbars and the stock Nightster bars.so my next step is to get and fit a bar with a greater angle.

I can't explain that one either ... that's a wierd place for a cramp. It's more common to have joint problem (in the knukles and wrist). Cramps indicate restricted blood flow.

I know, my hands either cramp up or go numb sometimes too .. and it's from holding my hands in one position for too long ..Come to think of it .. my 'everything' starts to ache after a long while of sitting in one position, so I have to shift my body position and change my hand position around alot when I am on a road trip.
