Default Seat customization

A word here on seats and the need to make them more comfortable. I would suggest that those who want to, make your seat into what you want it to be. I just got through adding an inch of high density foam padding to my seat. People! It wasn't that difficult. I ended up with just a slight difference in appearance and a whole lot more comfort. Remove the staples on one end of the seat. Peel it back to expose the padding. Make sure you have enough of the existing material(leather or vinyl) to staple back to the seat underside(If you add padding that is 2-3 inches thick, it will require that much more material and that much more force to put the cover back on). Slip in a piece of the foam padding that you have cut to the form of the original padding(a little powder will help to slide it into position here). Position it accordingly. Carefully slide the seat cover(leather or vinyl) back on. Gradually staple the material back onto the seat underside. Take note of the stitching and there positions, they should be equal on both sides of the seat as you staple it on. Done. Put the seat back on the bike. Admire your accomplishment. The foam padding can be bought at any craft and house wares store. I got mine from Joann's hobby and craft. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

Default RE: Seat customization

I'd like to customize my seat. What kind of staple gun did you use to put your seat back together?

The staple gun that I used was an electric one that I've had for years. Nothing special about it. You do need to use shorter staples however. A regular hand held and activated staple gun will do just as good as any other.
