Progressive shocks?

There is only so much you can do with the limited amount of travel the suspension has.
Almost any other brand and age bike has better stock suspension then the sportsters.
I am going to ask progressive if the shock travel changes as you go up in length, stock shock was 11.5, I put 12 inch shocks on, and might go to 12.5, do I get more travel?
Stock is something like 11.5 inch shock (on my bike), and 3 inches of wheel travel. If I put 12.5 inch shocks on, I (can) get an inch higher ride height, but do I go to 4 inches of wheel travel?, or 3.5? or do I stay at 3 inches of wheel travel?
Just adding an inch more travel can make a big difference in the ride...

Brett, here is very long chart that has the shock travel listed. for the shocks starting with the 412s, they are way down the list.
