I have a 48 (black tank) and had the same problem, after photoshoping exhausts on the bike I decided the chrome was the only way to go for me. I was sold on the V&H SS's to but to my surprise I just didnt like the way they looked on the bike. If money were no object I would have no choice to do as another poster suggested and do both chrome and black and get the RSD 2-1 shown below. I dont see em often and they look and sound bad *** in my opinion.

 

I agree with most on the Short Shots. It's almost like everyone that buys a Honda Civic has to run out and buy a coffee can muffler. But at the same time...to each his own. It's not my money or bike, do what makes you happy.
