Just as a general question on this topic, what is the difference in me drilling the baffles out at ~200 miles and getting an open exhaust put on at the dealer at ~200 miles? I hate the sound of my bike and REALLY want to fix it!!!!

I bashed out my baffles as soon as I got the bike home.
I had a long socket extension and just had at it with a hammer.

It did not sound quite right to me, so I pulled the silencers off and put in some small baffles from the Triumph, they just wedge in there, don't rattle.

I suppose the best sound would be open glass pack, gives that deep sound.
Not sure what is in the stock silencers, but there are not enough holes for it to work like a good glasspack setup.
Top end seems better, no lack of low end, not too loud, not quite loud enough for me, but I don't like the guys who break glass in cars as they ride by.

I don't care about any warranty, never used one, never will.
I buy a new car, bike, anything, and expect to get zilch from any warranty, No one works on my stuff but me.

honestly I don't see much diff besides the dealer would most likely set your AFR to account for the lack in back pressure. I chose to wait just to be on the safe side since I know how crucial a good break in can be but I cant really say if it would have any negative effect. that question better answered by a mech in my opinion.

I listened to a buddys 1200 that hammer and chisel'd his baffles and there was a distinct air sound to his I wasn't a fan of, By drilling out the whole baffle (what I did) it makes a clean through route for air to flow and I was able to eliminate that airy sound.

The ECM is capable of compensating for a minor mod. like that. But like the other post said you will need new stockers WHEN the EPA gets their way. Thats why my stock system lives wraped in newspaper in a box in my garage.

Scar, I'm thinking doing your mod but pipes, I have the rip off SE slip-ons, the ones without the removable baffles and the stockers and even with open exhaust the bike seems to be no louder. Is that just because it's an 883 and will cutting the baffles out of the stockers or the slip ons make that much of a difference?! Thanks
