On my Duck, I had Leo Vince Titanium/Stainless pipes and wrapped them, with no issues for about 10,000km. I didn't do anything except wet them to put them on and use the recommended ties.

I just did my 48 with wrap (from Performance Improvements in Toronto, not sure of the brand) and was told by a guy at my dealer that he has had the same wrap on for almost 10 years - and he reasoned that they have continued to look good because he used exhaust paint on them, so I figured what the heck and did the same thing.

I used the VH clips that originally held the shield onto the pipes, I assume it will be fine? These are just mocked up, waiting for my mids to arrive from Texas. I hope they don't crack as I've been reading happens sometimes:

I realize this threads kind of old, but do you think I could wrap both short shots with a 2" x 25' roll? Thanks guys.

I also tried the stainless steel locking ties but those were crap. Go with metal clamps instead.

BTW there are certain types of pipes that are safe to wrap. The short shots have a good weight to them and won't crack easily, on the other hand the V&H competition 2:1 pipes are like 6 lbs in total weight and would crack easily if wrapped.

I realize that you posted this quite a while ago but was wondering if you remember about how much wrap you used.

I hit a big ol rock yesterday on Angeles Crest and went down on the right side... my heat shields are a mess. It's blessing in disguise, I've wanted to wrap my pipes for a while now anyway haha.

Default Heat shields? Heat wrap?

Hi,

I'm dragging back an old thread with a (maybe!) stoopid question...

I'm thinking to wrap my pipes (Big Shots Staggered on my Slim), do you wrap over the heat shields, or take 'em off?

I'm thinking to do a full wrap, from headers to just behind the exhaust trim.

Thanks.
