So it's been about 9 months from the start of this thread. How are the wrap jobs holding up? Anyone have any problems or ended up hating it?
I have a friend that has an extra set of short shots that I my try out. I really like the looks of the wrapped pipes.

You will need to replace your pipes every two years or so. This is according to my performance shop.

Did they give a reason why?

I really like the look but it's not worth new pipes every two years.

not sure if I missed it, but no one has talked about getting their pipes sprayed with ceramic paint....check it out..greatly reduces heat temp.....just like most high end aftermarket headers..we did ours before we wrapped them...checked the surface temp with a thermal imager vs someone who had wrapped pipes with no coating...BIG difference....there was an article last year in The Horse Magazine...great mag by the way.....

Hey guys, I'm new to the site and have just been browsing around as of late. I bought an 08 nightster this past summer. It has chrome vh short shots and I want to do a wrap. Now from my understanding I thought you take the heat sheilds off then wrap the actual pipes. If this is the case did you guys remove the pipes from the bike or just wrap then on? Also, when it comes to the mounting bracket could I simply just wrap over the screw holes then cut out them out to remount the pipes? Any info you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I wrapped mine over the heat sheilds. And yes, wrap over the mounting holes and just punch a hole through the wrap.

If you want a good tight wrap you will need to remove the pipes from the bike. Also it is a lot easier with two people. Start at the bottom and rotate the pipe. Be careful of your overlap, the more you over lap the more wrap you will need.
