i can shift from 1st to 3rd ok, but in fourth it feels like nuetral it revs but doesn't engage, shift again into 5th ok , and does the same thing in 4th when downshift.Its not grinding it feels like nuetral.2003 1200 sportster

first make sure ya got fluid in the primary, adjust your clutch cable at the derby first then on the line and make sure your primary chain is properly adjusted.

how many miles? could be a bad clutch but check those things first

Sounds like that gear may not be a gear anymore.

neutral has always been a little difficult to find, i just got use to it . what could that mean?

Start with draining your tranny fluid. Check to see if you have alot of shavings or chunks of metal.

having dificulty finding nuetral (at least with my limited experience) points to clutch issues. when my clutch went i had trouble getting into random gears...i imedeatly started freaking out and thinkin tranny and a couple a buds calmed me down and we found out it was the clutch.

that being said i don't wanna get your hopes up if it is tranny but like i said thats just my experience...if adjusting everything doesn't work and checking your fluid for shavings or teeth or brass rivits...it might be a good idea to just pull the primary off and have a looks see...you'll get a better idea then
