Nightster highway pegs

Nightster highway pegs
My wife wants to put highway pegs on her 08 nightster. She has the elephant ear engine guard (49215-07) has anyone mounted any on this bar. It would mean that ther would be a slight upward angel to the peg. Is this a problem?
The all black engine guard mounting kit HD 54234-10 says that it won't fit this bar. Is that because the bar is not an 1.25, because of the curve of the engine guard? Can I make it work, shim it, shave it? DOES ANYONE ELSE MAKE A BLACK MOUNTING KIT THAT WOULD WORK?

I have the black guards, but they did not make the black mounting kits when I had mine put on, so I don't know anything about those. I don't have any issue with the angle of my highway pegs. (you can check out my albumns for pics).
Just like Harley to make a black mounting kit that does not fit their own black engine guard!!!! I plan on getting mine powder coated at some point.
