Low fuel light coming on within 20 miles of full tank

Wow, sounds like you had a bad bike day. That sucks. Sorry to hear that.
I'm starting to have the same problem with my 07 1200C. I had the dealer replace the gaskets for my rocker box covers in early March. Ever since then, my low fuel indicator light is coming on early. I never once had the problem before the gaskets were replaced. I asked the dealer if they had to remove the fuel tank to perform the work, they said no, removing the tank isn't necessary.
Normally the light would come on at approx. 120 miles from the last fill up. Now it's starting to come on and go back off at approx. 60 miles/100 miles. It is very annoying!

Update - I've been riding the bike without the fairing since I posted this thread and it has yet to come on otherwise when it normally should or would have in the past. I'm beginning to wonder if somehow with the shield on there is some kind of turbulant air being blasted to the connectors under the tank and causing an issue. It's a longshot, I know, but it's all I can come up with.
I think I'm going to buy the sleek looking LED fuel gauge that sits on top of the front master cylinder. It says it comes with it's own sending unit and hardware. Perhaps it's more reliable than the stock low fuel light? Who knows.

Again, I use my trip as my rough gauge. I think of all the bikes I've had, and I've had quite a few, only one of them had a fuel gauge. A low fuel light isn't what I consider ground breaking technology. It isn't something that I use as a true gauge. It is afterall just another dummy light. However when the light comes on within 20 miles of a full tank then there is an issue. And that is what this thread is about....
