I am 5'9", have burly 14" narrow glide apes with 1.5" risers and nightster top clamp. Fit perfect almost shoulder height but just low enough that I can slightly bend my elbows for comfort. I sat on my bike, closed my eyes and held a broomstick in my position of comfort and had the wife measure from the riser to the broomstick to get the best fit.

Sounds like between 14" and 16" would be good for me. Was just at the dealership today to figure out pricing and looks like I'm gonna have to hold off for a bit which is a bummer. not as simple of switch as I thought with all the resizing of cables and all. I'll get there though. In time.....

In addition to finding what size works for you, it may be worth checking regulations regarding bar height too. Would hate to see someone spend all that money on bars, cables etc...only to find out they are too tall.

Been runnin 16" for three years. I'm 5'10" and they were a little tall, hands went numb some days. I'm installing my new 14" apes tomorrow so we will see. I've got them on in the garage and I think they are going to be perfect. Good luck!

OK, here's the thing that nobody seems to mention, if you like to cruise at around 80 apes may not be for you.I'm 5'9" and at 65mph I love my 12" apes, at 80 not so much.I don't know what kind of bars you have now but the faster you go the more comfortable lower bars become and vise versa.Just something to think about.

i have read you can do 12" apes without extending your cables - can anyone confirm that?
