I was wondering the exact same thing...! I recently purchased a 1989 Harley Sportster XLHugger 883. This is a 4 gear not a 5 gear with a belt drive not chain. This is my first Sportster I usually ride Soft tails.! But with my back and shoulder getting worse I decided to get a lighter bike (at least for now lol) so I have no way of knowing the torque between a 1200 or an 883. But I’ve been told by a few brothers that they believe mine has been bored to be a 1200 due to the fact that it gets me down the road pretty good given I’m 6’1” and 260lbs...!!! Lol haha they told me if it was a stock 883 that it would have troubles a little bit. I do however find myself always looking for 5th gear when riding...

Even a 883 would not have a problem with you on it.

There is, see http://xlforum.net/forums/showpost.p...5&postcount=28

The distance from the spark plug hole to the far side of the cylinder at BDC will be significantly greater for a 1200 and can be measured.
