Default Clutch Leaking

Whats up all....I recently changed my clutch cable and when I came back the next day it was leaking from where the clutch threads into the primary, any suggestions?

Was it a lot of oil or a few spots? I would clean up under the primary cover underneath where the cable goes into the cover and all around under the cover itself just to be sure everything is clean and oil free. Make sure that the cable was screwed in tightly into the primary case and that it is not leaking oil out of there. Ride the bike around a bit and then check underneath the primary cover again to see if it is still clean and free of any oil. If there is oil again after you have cleaned everything up to begin with, you should be able to see where the oil is coming from and then you can take the steps to correct the problem. Good luck with your oil leak and ride safe out there!

+1, wipe it down good, then ride for a bit (15 min) just enough to get it up to temp, then check. You can even use some teflon tape (plumbers tape) and lightly cover the threads to make a better seal.

You did install the seal on the new cable, right?

I did I put the rubber seal from the OEM cable on the new one, the new cable did come with three bronze like washers that I did not install because the OEM one did not have any on it....could that be an issue and would you know the "Bronze washers" are for?

That could well be the problem. Sorry, but I happen to be on a road trip right now and don't have access to my tech library. Maybe someone else will chime in with some help.

In the mean time, you might want to post what type/brand cable you replaced the OEM with and/or try checking with the cable mfg. on the washers.

I would verify what the manfacturer of your cable thinks the brass washers are for, you should replace the o ring, also it is possible to cross thread the bit that screws into the primary....ask me how I know,....

My bet is that the o-ring isn't properly sealed. Cross threading, as was mentioned, would cause a bad seal with the o-ring.
