It's a shame if someone get's a bike they'll like less just cuz they want a "Big Boy Bike".
I am in process of switching back to a 1200C from a streetglide. Couldn't agree with you more. In the best of worlds I'd have both but for the type of riding I do now, sporty is best for me and I don't let pride or ego get in my way.

Cheers!

I told my girlfriend's mom today about my plans to bob an older Sportster.

She proceeded to tell me that Sporsters are for girls.

She has a springer softail. fml.

This article is what sold me on the Sportster and what probably opened others eyes as well. I looked at the Kawasaki and it was too bulky for me so went with the Iron 883.

Yeah, I've noticed a lot of beginner and women riders out this year too.

I rarely see Sportsters in Houston, let alone cool chopped-up one-of-a-kinds. Too bad....

I just got back from taking my sportster custom (aka the red mistress) on a 1000 mile trip. Anyone that says a sportster is only for riding down the block well I could say a few things. When I stopped into mike's famous the sales guys were trying to get me to upgrade my bike but when they found out how far I was going they stopped LOL.

I would guess that alot of it has to do with the economy and surplus 09 inventory on most Sportys (Irons and Nightsters being the exception). Lots of dealerships were very willing to deal on 09 XLs. Demand on the Irons, Nightsters and the 48s is still strong, but fairly weak on the rest of the line even with H-D cutting Sporty production for the last 6 months. I'm planning on picking up an Iron as soon as the dealership I work at gets a few in stock. Right now there are more deposits on Irons and 48s than bikes coming in. Got a ton of plans for that bike and the waiting is driving me crazy.

MOCO is financing them right now for $99 a month and no money down. That is why folks are buying them. Must be a 6 year plan or something, but that is still cheap. I have spent that in half a night of heavy drinking back in my old dayz.......
