RE: sThe Wave
The wave...
Sure, I wave to everyone...
The wave use to be a closed fist in the air on a bent arm... kinda like a right turn hand signal...
Now it's low and with a couple of fingers extended... between a left turn and stop hand signal...
I wonder what will be next...

I wave to just about everyone. Still being a new rider, I focus on riding the bike instead of examining what model oncoming traffic is riding.
Although, I can't imagine waving to those goofy itsy bitsy crotch rockets. I suppose I would if they waved first. Those things just look so silly.

I wave to everyone on 2 wheels except for those little moped scooter things... unless they wave first.

One day I was out riding with a friend that rides a Ducati and someone rolled by on a cruiser. They didn't wave until after they had passed my friend, so I guess there are definately those that discriminate.
I'm still a beginning rider, so my big problem is still what to do when someone else waves when I'm in an awkward position (e.g. hand on the clutch, turning, etc). I assume they know my hands are busy, but who knows.

RE: sThe Wave
Rode the new 07 883R home on Saturday and have been doing break-in miles every evening since. Got my first wave by some big HD rides and caught me off gaurd (I was paying attention to the new feel etc.), but since then noticed that HD riders give the low wave and rocket riders do the 2 fingers off the clutch lever wave. So if I see a rocket coming that's the way I wave to them, low wave to the HD's. At least that's what I see here in the NW.

RE: sThe Wave
Maybe the crotch-rocket crowd doesn't wave because they're leaning on the handlebars? When they're leaning way forward like that might be dangerous to remove one hand.
I dont expect anyone to wave back if they're turning left. If I'm turning left they can go ahead and think I'm a snob, I'm not removing my press hand for social graces.
