Carb Cough
Picked Up the new 06 Sporty (and all new to me)............... 1st HD I ever owned, it also came with a cold (lol) carb cough!! it doesn't happen too often but I don't want to stall in the intersection oh and a bit noisy engine too.Can anyone tell me if this is the norm untill it goes in for the 1st 1000 mi check up and they (the dealer) sell me a S.E.package or a rejet or air upgrade. Can the dealer aadjust the carb ect ect.
Also!!!!!!!!!!!!! has anyone had any problems with H.D.warranty and what is the policy if you break down on the raod out of town
(((Rather then getting that answer from the dealer I thought I would start hear
Thank you

RE: Carb Cough
The noise you hear is the rockers and yes it's normal. I think alot of owners put on louder pipes to cover some of the noise. The bike comes from the factory with the carb set on the lean side because of EPA regs, thats why the cough. That's why you hear so much about people jetting the carb themselves. If you go with the SE pipes and Low restriction AC you will need to change the jets, if you want it to stop coughing for now go to the DIY section and read about jetting and tuning the CV carb, great pics there also, pull the plug covering the idle air adjustment screw and turn the screw out a 1/4 turn at a time and then try it, keep going until it stops coughing or to the point you can live with it. But you should not go further than 3 turns max, from all the way in. I hope this helps.
