Cool Changing out a gas tank

How expensive is it to change out a gas tank? I have a few irritating nicks on my tank and I was wondering how much it would cost to change it out for the exact same color and year of my bike...Mine is pewter pearl.

It is very easy to do yourself. There are only two bolts and the fuel line to the injectors. Once you have it off you can have it repainted cheaper than getting another one. Give it a try and save yourself some money and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

I bought a tank on eBay and had it painted. I swapped the tanks myself and it wasn't hard at all but you do need a service manual. If you get another tank, be sure it's for an 07 or later, the EFI element needs a large cut out on the bottom left side of the tank. Or you could remove your tank and have the dents pushed out and repainted.
You'll need to replace the EFI gasket, get one at the dealer.
Run as much gas out of the tank as you can, then use a siphon to get the rest. There will still be a bit down at the seat end so be mindful of spillage. When you remove the hose behind the EFI, have a rag under it to catch the dribbles of gas and then have a bigger rag when you remove the EFI element carefully.
Use a torque wrench when putting it all back together.

+1 on both the previous posts. A lot cheaper to repair than to replace.
