Default Clymer's Service manual

I have had my bike for less than 2 weeks and have almost put on 1000 miles already. I am sure I am going to be due for some kind of servicing before long.
I want to pick up a service manual, because I can wrench a little bit and am sure I could do at least fluid changes on my own.

I found some Clymer's service manuals on e-bay for about $25. Are the Clymer's manuals good? Does anybody use them? Is $25 the going rate for them?

In the mean time, how long should I wait between oil changes? Is it 3000 miles like your car, or is it different for bikes?

I would consider spending 25 more and getting the actual service manual at the dealer i have used it many times already. its paid for itself.

I have the Clymer and it's worth the $25. I bought mine on Amazon 2 months ago and learned a lot. It might not be as detailed as the HD one but it still gives very useful info and explains things well.

I've used the Clymer Manuals for years, for my Shovelhead, BT, and now the 1200C.

They have provided all the information we've ever needed, from routine maintenace items to complete tranny and engine rebuilds.

And if I am correct the clymers manual will tell you things that the HD man. won't. Suppose you want to change your cam, the HD manual will tell you how to replace the stock camshaft, while the clymers will tell you how to shim an aftermarket cam.
