RE: Novice mechanic ,can I rejet myself??
I found the procedure to be quite easy. I used an article from the DIY section, but I found it included way too many unnecessary steps. Basically, when you have the air cleaner off just pull/wiggle the carb out of the manifold (the air cleaner is what holds it in place). With the carb pulled slightly away from the bike drill the cap over the idle mixture screw. Then, very, very carefully remove the four screws from the bottom of the carb with a #2 phillips screwdriver. Don't touch the float once the bottom cover is off and just use a flat screwdriver to replace the jets. The rest of the details can be found in the article, but I was able to do the rejet without removing the carb from the bike competely and I had plenty of room to work (with an extra person helping to hold things occasionally).
