Thinking of buying a trailer for my bike. I want to take it with me to Ft Leonardwood MS from Florida. I found an inexpensive utility trailer that I think can be modified for the purpose. Any thoughts or recommendations as to what a good bike trailer needs? I have never trailered a bike before so I would like some advise.

Something in the way of suspension. A rail helps keep the bike located. Four solid tiedown points. Decent ramp, easily stored on the trailer. And one that is straight so it doesn't weave side-to-side while you're driving down the road.

Shame on ya, Mark!

No thoughts on the trailer and only one on Ft. Leonardwood...It should be relocated.
OTOH, you will not be too far away from some nice riding areas.

I was on a Harley website last night and a guy had this in his signature.

"Trailers are for Boats
and bikes that are broke"

Like Skip said, try to get something with a suspension if it is a long haul.

If you are considering an open trailer, think about all the rocks and other debris your tow vehicle will throw at your scoot. I've heard of people buying those fiberglass wind deflectors that truck use and installig them on the front of the trailer. It would look like a morph, but it would keep your bike from getting dinged.

Unfortunatly, I have no way of packing all my uniforms and gear on my Sportster. I also dont like the idea of letting my bike sit around for several months while I am training up there so I will take my bike with me on a trailer behind my Firebird. That way I can ride it while I tear apart my Firebird and give it a rebuild at the base motorshop.
