Default Iron 883 - Adjusting Lever Reach

Hello All:

My wife has an Iron 883. We're trying to fit it to her a bit. She's petitie, about 5'-1." Is there a way to adjust the clutch and brake levers to bring them closer to the grip? She has to really stretch to get a good grip.

Alternatively, does HD make a replacement lever set that would be better suited for her?

Thanks.

Basically, No & No.

Most of the adjustable levers on the market do not fit 04 & later Sporties.

The only thing I've seen that actually adjusts the lever reach, is a set of adjustable levers, made I think in Europe somewhere, and they run around $175.00/pr.

Someone posted up here about a month ago with a link to the site but I don't have it.

Here's the deal on those lever thangys.

Any lever that reduces the lever-to-grip-gap and places lever closer to bar also increases the effort required to squeeze the lever......The levers posted utilize bearings only because they are required to help ease the extra effort.

Keep that in mind before ordering. You might end up with expensive levers she can reach, but too stiff for her to operate with ease.

Thanks oinker02. That's good food for thought. We'll stick with the OEMs a bit longer, maybe rolling them to see if it improves the reach.

She is starting to eye-ball my Forty Eight now............

Yeah, roll them fersure cause mine came assembled with levers clocked way too high....Also flip her mirrors to remove small gap above grips. Those mirrors are dangerous when located above grips. They don't provide enuff clearance above bars for rapid hand placement especially when wearing gloves.

Also keep in mind that OEM rubber grips are best for small fisted folks. Aftermarket fancy grips are usually fatter and generate even more lever reach.....but they look cool
