I basically reoiled the filter in the morning and all was good again. Before reoiling, the filter was nearly white... so I'm thinking it was getting a bit too much air, and of course, the rain didn't help matters.
Now the filter's nice and pink again. I went out in a downpour last night and had no problems. No coughs, no sputters, and certainly no dying.
