Hey ranalli7777, I expected alot better mileage bringing my bike home from the dealer as well. They said they filled it up, but wouldn't you know I get to about 90 miles and the light comes on. Obviously, they DIDN'T fill it up. Getting to about 120 now before the light comes on.

Ride Safe

Enjoy your new ride and burn as much fuel as you can!!!
I agree. Had my 883L pull the idiot low fuel light and my tank was more than half full the other day. She is just mad that I have been riding my Dyna much more. Yesterday I put 25 hard riding miles on her and no idiot light

That's not bad at all if you have the 3.3 gal tank. My 1200 has the 3.3 gal tanks and my fuel light comes on between 75-85 miles now that I have the PCIII pipes and Stage I. When it just had the slip on's it would come on around 90 miles if i did not run it hard. I did notice that when my fuel light comes on and I ride a few more miles I can only get about 2.2 gal's or so in the tank so your still safe for a few good miles.

I ride an '01 XL 1200C...does not come with a fuel light, and I fill up every 120 miles. Never needed to use the reserve, but I also don't try to go much further than 120.

I have an 04 xl883c with the 4.5 tank that I got about a month ago, I am just not checking the mileage because the last fill up I had to switch to reserve. So far I am at 150 and still running on the main line and am waiting to hit reserve to see how many miles I can get out of the tank before having to switch. Does anyone know how much is left in the tank when you hit reserve? Will let you know when the weather clears up around here.

Smile fuell milage

I had an old 95 and 94 883 sporty and got 54mpg,..and 50mpg. Are the newer sportys a little harder on fuell? You would think that being fuell injected that they would get better milage ? I have a carbed 1200 and get52mpg now.

I have a 09 1200C. On my last fill up the light came on at 95 or so and I went to 120 before filling. It was pretty close to 3.4 gal for the fill up.

the fuel lights are way conservitive on HD's in general on my 09 1200C the light goes on in town at about 110miles, Ill go another 20 before i start looking for a gas station, but it never seems to take more than 3.5 gallons, and I know I have a 4.5 gallon tank....

Don't forget that even though you have 4.5 gallon tank, the fuel pump for the fuel injected bikes takes up space inside that tank. Not sure how much, but we don't actually have 4.5 gallons available to us.
