I'm the same way.. I like the feel on short rides w/o it but I started using mine all the time when I had a rock hit be between the eyes.. and it saved me about a 2 weeks a go.. me and my dad were riding to my daughters softball game when either he or the truck in front of him threw up a bolt about 2 1/2 inches long and it nailed my windshield.. scared the hell out of me..

I can tell you this. my step dad has a 02 883 with the HD quick redatch shild on it and there is a big differance in how the bike reacts in the wind or at higher speeds with the windshild off. When I ride his bike I pop the shild off. So yeah the bike will handle better with it off on bad winds and over all.

Windshields don't work worth didly on Sportsters, I have tried several different types and brands, short and tall on both mine and my wife's bike and the bottom line is the bikes are easier to ride without one at all. The same applies to Road Kings.

My windshield also works great. i wouldn't ride without it.

Some may think it's fun to get pushed all over the highway in 20-30 mph winds, but not me. That's when I park it. Windshield or not.

Drink more beer. Seriously I have been riding here in the f&**ing wind it seems for an eternity with my windshield on. I just slow down a little bit so as not to put too much stress on the windshield, the hardware or the mounts. The wind was blowing the other day so much I told the fellow at work that if I ride home 55 mph I would have a wind speed of 95 mph. He laughed. Got her home no problem everything good and tight.

have a windscreen on my FLSTN it's so heavy with 20 or so winds from all angles I feel in control noting like the bars are going be ripped out of my hands. In cross winds I might slow down a tad. The Bonneville T100 will move around some and I do go slower in certain crosswinds but it's a lot lighter and you are sitting up high too.

Yeah, it's a matter of bike weight for the most part. I had a Honda 500 many, many years ago and got knocked all over the place on it.
I'm sure my 218 lbs. helps nowadays too: I fear more the wind from behind at a stoplight blowing the shield off forwards. Wouldn't take much with these quick-detachables. Haven't heard of it happening tho; might be no one has posted it.

I like the look without the windshield and like riding around town without it. If I'm hitting the interstate, I want my windshield as it keeps me from getting beat to death. Only problem with buffeting is in high traffic or near a semi.

i just bought a nightster and will commute with it from now until october depending on the weather so i have been eyeing the memphis shades
del rey in solar with the quick release hardware, this way i can take it off
for the slow and easy cruises when we go.

anyone have one of these mounted? if so how does it fair on the highway?
