The wife wants an engine guard for her 2008 sportster, but my questions is "will the engine guard fit with forward controls?"

Yes, mine fit fine. It looks close but really isn't at all. (08 883C) I'll try to attach a few pics.

 

yes- i have had two different ones on my 08- they are great on the big road cause they give you another place for the feet
