Default Riser change and wiring harnesses

The wife wants a 4" pullback riser on her 1200L. I have an extended brake line installed and ready to go. The other control cables have sufficient length to say on the bike but there is little slack in the wiring harnesses.

My question: Is it better to obtain extended wiring harnesses or to cut them and add 4"-5" of new wire in them?

Thoughts and tips would be appreciated if you have done this kind of mod before.

Thanks.

I don't know the year of her bike, but you can usually go 4 inches with out changing anything. You will have to adjust the wire slack.

Edit: the wire is there.

Yeah I have the HD 4" pull backs on my bike and all the wires and cables are stock. Just works with the wires and you should find some slack.

She has an 09, should have included that info. The wiring for the speedo and indicator lights is short by about 1.5" from getting into place. I could not get enough slack out of the wiring. Stripped off the tank and got into the cradle but there was not enough wire to pull. The hand controls are just long enough but it is very tight.
