Default Sporty Windshields???

Always rode without them, but they seem like a good idea for longer trips. Tried Memphis Shields 19" sport shield. It's tall enough and looks good but the air coming around and under the shield comes over the 4.5gal tank buffets me real bad. Am building a prototype deflector but can't test until my mufflers get back from American Custom.

So who knows of a good windshield fix or a good windshield for a buffet-free ride on the usually windy superslab?

Windshields are a topic of endless discussion. Their effectiveness depends on the riders height, and the distance they are from the shield so the same windshield that works for one person isn't going to work for another. That said, the HD Quick Detach works well for me and my wife. She's 5'0" and I'm 5'10" so I would recommend most people try it. I've not used it for long distances but my wife used it on a couple of 2 - 3 week trips that she took where she was doing 300 miles a day.

The nice thing about the Quick Detach is that when you need it you can put it on in seconds, very convenient.

Yeah the HD quick detach is what I have too. Some air does come around the headlight opening, but I am thinking about stuffing a towel in there on the really cold days. I like the on and off in seconds and the looks. No docking hardware left behind when detached. No scratches or other damage.

Default Wouldn't be without one

You either luv em or you hate em. Some riders just aren't happy unless they get bugs in their teeth. Personally I wouldn't be without one. I fitted a Sport windshield kit (part no. 58024-96A) to my 2000 sporty and kept it when I got my XL883L. The fittings are good for all types of handle bars. Check out my album for pics.

Can you provide the part number for the sport shield and possibly a pic of it on your bike? thanks

I have the smaller tank on my 883R so I don't get the buffeting under by the headlight. There are two different size openings for those so maybe you got the wrong size opening? I love mine...Memphis Shades.

after getting smacked in the chest by one of our jurrassic park bumble bees this weekend... and then it crawled in my shirt, and i had to put the death squeeze on it at 50 mph with my right hand and hold it till i could stop... i went and got a HD quick release model, but had to get one sized for a 48, as i'm adding mid glide TT's next week to go with my new rideright fat 50 all black 21" front wheel. the windsheild looks great, and should prevent that little fiasco from happening for the most part! i'll put up some pics after it's all together.
