CHARLEY I see that your running a 19'' front tire. Did you not like the 21'' or was it the rim did not come in 21'' size. or for handling and longevity ?

The 21" wheel and skinny tire handles poorly on the twisties compared to the fatter 100/90-19 tire you can run on the 19" wheel. In addition to handling issues, I wore out both of the first two 21" tires at 7500 miles. The fatter tire on the 19" rim will give you about 3 times more mileage than the skinny bicycle tire will. My current Metz 19" front tire has over 26,000 miles on it.

what are thoughts on the Avon Venom tires? the sporty i bought has them on currently. the rear is practically brand new, but the front is close to needed a new one. i need to measure the thread as soon as i remember to buy a new gauge. not sure how many miles are on the front tire.

it seems to handle good, but then again i have nothing to compare it too.

Default Avon Venoms for me!

Changed from the Dunlops just before Christmas 'cos they seemed to have very little idea of holding on to the road at the lean angles I like and wet roads I have to live with. Avon seems far better over tarlines, white stripes etc in the dry and pretty damn good in the wet too (once I'd ridden off the mold release agent that scared the **** out of me on a roundabout!)
Don't know about life yet but grip's solid, leans a lot better than she used to and I'm gradually grinding the pegs down....

I haven't tried the Avon Venoms. There have been a number of reports here regarding the Avon's excellent handling and traction, to the extent that they may be somewhat better than the Metzler 880's in that respect. The downside based on what I've seen and read here, is that the bit of extra handling and traction seems to come with a big trade-off in terms of tire mileage (softer tire compound).

Again, I have no first hand experience with Avon Venoms, just relaying what I've seen & read.

Default Avons = more fun!

Yeah - I don't got much $$$ but given the choice of miles or fun... ask me again in 4000 miles : )

Hey, I'm heading up for 50 soon, meaning I so need to get the good stuff down, right now... and I feel so much better after 50 miles on the Venoms than I ever did on the Dunlops! They say it's gonna snow tomorrow... but Sunday should be sunny! So that'll be me through the twisties over the hills! Yaay!

And I should get my new Superbrace on Saturday )

Happy riding!
