Default Extended swing arm

Im going to be buying a sportster probably next week. I want to do the 200 or the 250 tire kit. i have found a few companies so far. one of the companies will actually extend the swing arm by 2 or 3 inches. Im wondering who has done these. how involved is it? are they safe? is there anyhting i should know?

thanks
Jesse
