Default 21" to 19" tire & wheel swap is done

I bought a 100/90-19 Dunlop 404 tire and tube for up front since my rear tire is still in great shape. Same tread pattern as stock but without the HD on the sides. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I dig the tread pattern. It has more of an older look to it than the more modern and advanced Avon Venom's and Metzeler 880s. Athough the Dunlop certainly isn't the performance tire those are, for the type of riding I do, it's all I need.

My initial reaction when I saw the service tech riding it up from the shop was, "Oh, sh**, that's the fat look I was visualizing when I decided to go with a 19" wheel, and it looked to be hunkered-down even more. I'm very happy with the way it fills out the space between the forks now, it gives my bike a more substantial look and feel. After the service tech went back in, I grabbed my helmet, gloves and shades out of the Jeep and was talking to my wife about how much I dug the new look and that I could probably say that I'm done. She laughed and sarcastically said, "...sure".
Just then she told me that the guy was coming back out. He told me that I did a nice job on the bike and if I ever wanted to sell it I know where he works. I looked back at my wife and she just chuckled. She knows how much I love my bike.

My thoughts on the ride home: It seems to me that it rides a lot better, more stable. I think the taller side walls and more width must have a lot to do with that. It also seemed to track straighter down the road. It's definitely lower now. When I got it in the garage and dropped the kickstand it didn't lean over as far. No scraping going up the driveway or over a couple of speed bumps on the way home. I'll have a better feel for it when I ride in to work Thursday & Friday.

Here are a few pics:

I really like the lower, meaner (entire bike) look of the 19" wheel and tire - nice job! A little bit of "old school" is talking to me as I look at it...

I really like the direction you are taking with this bike... Pretty awesome man!

That front tire really did wonders for the look...

Just one thing... Wet roads must be a downer... You have to get a face full on what ever road you're traveling....

I mean everyone gets caught in a shower every-once-in-awhile....

She's a beaut... that's for sure....

I also want to put a 19" wheel and tire on, I notice you are not using a front fender which I want one on. have you tried to put a fender on with that wheel?

I have not, but I'm sure it will fit - no problem. The 19" wheel/tire combo is standard issue on non-custom models.

Bike looks good with both wheels on it.

That looks awesome. I'm curious about the no fender and wet road thing too. You must get sprayed a lot.

I'll admit it - I don't ride when it's going to rain. I've only gotten caught in the rain once and it was for a short distance.
