Default Losing electrical power

I have been having some troubles with my 2005 1200C model. At start up the engine may turn over, but sometimes I hear a click in the starter then lose all electrical power. If I jiggle the wire to or pull out the maxi fuze and put it back in I hear the fuel pump pressurize again and I have power back. I rode for a short time today and on the way home the bike sputtered real bad and I noticed the sepedo would drop down to zero then jump back to 50 where I was riding at. Do I have a problem with my ignition switch or is it somewhere else? Any help is appreciated. Thunder Beach is only a month away.

Check BOTH battery cables at BOTH ends for loose connections. Common problem.

My first thought was "the fuel pump powers back up"?? No fuel pump on a 2005 Sporty.

But, probably more helpful is this thought:

I had a friend that had the same issues on a Dyna, which is basically a Sporty with the big twin engine. That problem was with a Maxi Fuse. Check it, see if it needs to be cleaned, or possibly replaced.

I didn't know that. When I jiggled that wire I heard a sound that made me think something was being pressurized. I don't know what I heard now. It's the same sound you get when you turn the ignition switch on. A mechanic I know said it may be by ignition switch going bad. Any thoughts?

^^^ This. I had the exact same issue a couple of months ago which turned out to be a loose connection at -ve battery terminal. Once I took care of it, everything was back to normal. I have another electrical issue right now but it's totally different.

Other places I've read also say it's either the Maxi Fuse or battery connection, both of which are easy fixes. Thanks!
