Default engine noise?

How much engine noise is normal for a 09 XL 1200N? Should you hear it making an almost whirling sound when your riding? Thanks!

Sporty engines make a good bit of noise. Some people say they sound like a huge sewing machine. check your oil make sure its at the proper level. if it needs to be changed get it done. Now if you think that the noise is excessive take it in and let them check it out. a 2009 should still be under warranty so it wouldn't hurt.

thanks everyone. I might just take it by and have the dealer check it out. I'd be pretty bummed to keep mashing around making things worse.....
