Stage I kit really needed after adding SEII Slip ones.
I installed a set of the older style SE II slip one mufflers on a 03 1200C. Can I get away with the stock air cleaner and filter or would I have to install the Stage I kit?
A stage I "kit" is pipes, air cleaner and remap. If you only do pipes, OR only do A/C, then the remap is not needed. But when doing pipes AND air cleaner, then the remap is needed for optimum power/efficiancy.
If you doubt this, just look at any of the hundreds of threads exactly like this. They will all tell you the same thing.
Pa weather is finally getting nice. Time for some of this....
The Screamin' Eagle II's will allow an increase in exhaust flow, but it isn't necessary to use a higher flowing intake system.
Of course you will experience more of a horsepower increase if you increase the intake air/fuel flow as well, but it isn't necessary just because of the mufflers.

Sporty will serve you well. Just be aware when you first ride it, they are kinda top heavy. You will adjust to that very quickly, but they are top heavy.
I installed the SE II's first, and ran for about a week. I liked the sound but didn't get the performance boost until the re-jet and SE Air Cleaner.
You don't need to do both, but I would recommend it.
