Default Oils!!!!??!?!?!?!?!

OK, I am currently running amsoil 20W-50, and think its an ok oil. I was at wal mart the other night, and noticed that MOBILE ONE finally got with the program and is now making a new 20W50 air cooled twin oil. Does anyone know of this, or is anyone else using this yet. I love mobile one and it's all i run in my cars, but i've never seen a scoot oil by them yet. Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find the test sheets. I am a little weary of just dropping in a new blend.

I'm not sure where you've been, but Mobil-1 V-Twin oil has been around since 1998. It ranks right up there with the rest of the Group IV & V synthetic oils like spAmsoil & Redline.

Now, if you want to do some homework, you might want to visit the Oil Section here on the forum. If you you look close at the VOA's (virgin oil analysis) for the different oils, you'll find that there are only very minor (almost insignificant) differences between regular Mobil-1 and Mobil-1 V-Twin when used in the motor. For the most part it's nothing more than a Minor tweak in the formulation, a different label, and sold at twice the price. Ever heard the phrase "marketing gimmick"?

Many "old-timers" here have been running the regular automotive Mobil-1 15w-50 for years, and on bikes with over 100K problem free miles.

Now the good part. You can get the Mobil-1 15w-50 at Walmart in a 5 quart jug for $22.00. That's $4.40/qt.

For the primary/tranny, get a quart of Mobil-1 75-90 GEAR Oil. Autozone carries it for about $9.00.

I ran the Mobil 1 20W50 V-twin oil for about 15,000 miles. Then switched to the Mobil 1 15W50.

I thought that the tranny shared the oil in the sporty's. THought only the BT's had everything separate.

In the Sportsters the engine has it's own fill, and the tranny and primary share the same oil.....

In Big Twins the engine, tranny and primary each have their own fill.
