Default trading my 883L for a 1200C

Last July i bought an XL883L, new purchase, at the time it had been 30+ years since i had ridden and wasn't sure if it was really what i wanted to do. So i figured i would buy this bike, if it didn't work-out, i would sell it and take my loses. Well, i luv riding now and considering trading my 883 for a 1200. Reason being, forward controls, larger fuel tank, better suspension.

Would I be dissappointed with a 1200C ??

Asking for some opinions, please.

TIA

Rogg

Rogg, I think you'll be perfectly happy, I rode this one 370 miles to western Pa. in July and loved every minute of it. I took 17 north from Fredericksburg to 66 west, to 81, to 522, 68 across Maryland to Morgantown, W.Va., 79 to Washington, Pa. Then 18 north to my daughters. I wouldn't hesitate a minute to do it again and most likely will.

You will definitely not be disappointed. Extra legroom, more gas, and more power.

Forward controls, different tanks, etc, are not necessarily exclusive to the 1200. You can have all that stuff on an 883. What you WILL get with the 1200 is a little more oomph when you twist your wrist, gearing a little different too but the main thing is the motor.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the power. All the other things tho, you could just swap out for, its the same bike for the most part. Personally, I'm not a fan of spokes. I do like the chrome : )

I would price it out, see which way is more cost effective.

Look for a custom model even if its a 883 then youll have all you want.

You wont be disappointed, but you can add all the stuff and upgrade your motor to the 1200, on the bike you already have. I did it on an 883 I had. Look at the difference in price of trade in Vs upgrading your bike.

Thanks for the replies, fellas.

I have the MSRP trade-in on the bike thru July 15, 2010, that would apply if I traded for a Dyna or father up the model ladder. I have added the Sundowner seat and the mid height backrest to my 883L for upgardes. I know I could use my backrest if I traded for a 1200C or L.

Just something more to consider i guess.

Thanks again.

I agree 100%. After 30 years of not riding myself, I rode my nephews 883L a bit and decided it was not for me.
I picked up an '06 1200C and was much happier. A few mods here and there will make a 1200C a very good choice.
